AgentCard Launches Virtual Cards That Let AI Agents Buy Anything
AgentCard has gone live with a product that gives AI agents their own virtual payment cards, letting them autonomously purchase goods and services on behalf of users. The cards are instant, reusable, and open to everyone - not just businesses.
What Agents Can Buy
The launch covers a broad range of real-world spending: DoorDash deliveries, Amazon orders, Uber rides, Airbnb bookings, and Polymarket bets. It also handles software payments like OpenAI and Anthropic API credits, Vercel subscriptions, and Cursor Pro seats. Each transaction is private and doesn't expose the user's primary card details.
Crypto Rails Coming
AgentCard has signaled that on-chain payments, DeFi integrations, and wallet-native spending are next. That would position the product at the intersection of two fast-moving trends: agentic commerce and stablecoin payments.
A Category Is Forming
AgentCard isn't alone. Ramp launched its own Agent Cards on March 11, calling it "the first safe way for agents to spend money." Meanwhile, Circle and Stripe are racing to build stablecoin payment rails for AI agents, and Mizuho analysts recently cited agentic commerce as a key driver behind USDC overtaking USDT in transaction volume.
The common thesis: as AI agents move from answering questions to executing tasks, they need financial infrastructure. Virtual cards are the bridge between today's payment networks and tomorrow's autonomous agent economy.
