At his GTC 2026 keynote in San Jose, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang announced NemoClaw, an open-source platform that wraps OpenClaw with the security and privacy infrastructure enterprises need before deploying autonomous AI agents in production.

What NemoClaw Does

NemoClaw installs on top of existing OpenClaw deployments in a single command and adds three key layers missing from the base framework: policy enforcement, network guardrails, and privacy routing โ€” delivered through Nvidia's new OpenShell runtime. The stack integrates with NeMo, Nvidia's AI software suite, and supports any open-source model including Nvidia's own NemoTron family.

Huang developed NemoClaw in collaboration with OpenClaw creator Peter Steinberger, who joined OpenAI last month. The platform is hardware-agnostic โ€” it runs on any GPU, not just Nvidia's โ€” and is currently available as an early-access alpha release on Nvidia's developer portal.

The Strategic Bet

Huang framed the announcement with a pointed question to the crowd: "What's your OpenClaw strategy?" He compared the moment to inflection points around Linux, HTTP, and Kubernetes โ€” each of which created new infrastructure layers that enterprises had to adopt or fall behind.

"OpenClaw gave us exactly what the industry needed at exactly the right time," Huang said. "We need it. Every company in the world today needs to have an agentic systems strategy."

OpenAI launched its own enterprise agent platform, Frontier, in February. Nvidia's NemoClaw takes a different angle: rather than replacing OpenClaw, it extends the existing open-source ecosystem with guardrails enterprises can actually trust.

NemoClaw is available now in alpha at Nvidia's developer portal. A production-ready release is expected later this year.
