Meta has acqui-hired the team behind Dreamer, a startup that launched in beta just last month to let users build their own AI agents — no coding required. Bloomberg reported the deal on Monday, marking another rapid talent consolidation in the agentic AI space.

The Startup

Dreamer was co-founded in early 2026 by David Singleton, former CTO of Stripe, and Hugo Barra, who previously served as VP of Reality Labs at Meta before departing to build the company. The platform let both technical and non-technical users create personalized AI agents for everyday tasks like trip planning and meal preparation, powered by Anthropic's Claude Agent SDK.

The startup launched in beta on February 18, 2026, drawing attention for its accessibility-first approach to agent creation.

The Deal

According to Bloomberg, the acquisition is a talent deal — the Dreamer team is joining Meta's Superintelligence Labs under Alexandr Wang. Critically, Dreamer's technology and product are not part of the acquisition; the startup's IP stays behind. No financial terms were disclosed.

The move reflects Meta's accelerating push to staff up its AI agent capabilities. The Superintelligence Labs division has already absorbed other AI teams in recent months, including Moltbook's founders.
