TRM Labs Launches AI Agent to Fight AI-Powered Crypto Crime
TRM Labs launched Co-Case Agent on March 25 โ an AI investigative assistant embedded directly in TRM Forensics, its blockchain analytics platform used by law enforcement agencies, financial institutions, and crypto businesses worldwide.
AI Fighting AI
The timing is blunt: illicit crypto volume hit $158 billion in 2025, and AI-enabled scams surged 500% year over year. Investigators are increasingly being outpaced by AI-powered criminals who can move funds across dozens of blockchains in seconds. Co-Case Agent is TRM's answer โ an AI agent on every investigator's desk, working every case in parallel.
The tool translates natural language prompts into complex investigative actions. An investigator can ask "follow the money from this wallet" and Co-Case Agent automatically traces funds, identifies custodial exit points, and surfaces the next recommended step โ without requiring deep blockchain expertise.
Built for Defensibility
The key design constraint is auditability. Every prompt, graph change, and AI suggestion is written to an immutable audit log โ so the output can stand up in SAR filings, court exhibits, and regulatory reviews. TRM calls this a "glass-box" approach: the agent explains its reasoning and documents everything, but the investigator makes the final call.
Capabilities include automated fund tracing, money laundering pattern detection (peel chains, cross-chain swaps), and investigative graph audits for catching tracing errors.

Co-Case Agent is live for all TRM Forensics customers at no additional cost, covering law enforcement, national security agencies, financial institutions, and crypto businesses across more than 50 countries. Additional features are shipping on a rolling basis.
