Google Sets May 19 Launch for Gemini-Powered Health Coach
Google moves its health coach out of preview
Google says its Gemini-powered Google Health Coach will begin a global rollout on May 19, turning a long-running preview into a paid product inside Google Health Premium, the subscription tier formerly known as Fitbit Premium.
The launch sits inside a broader health rebrand. Google is renaming the Fitbit app to Google Health and positioning the coach as a central layer across fitness, sleep, nutrition and medical-record summaries. In Google's description, the coach can use onboarding details such as goals, routines, injuries and available equipment to tailor plans and ongoing recommendations.
What is included
According to Google's announcement, the coach can surface proactive guidance from data the user chooses to share, including activity, sleep, nutrition, cycle tracking, environmental context and, in the U.S., linked medical records. Google also says users will be able to log workouts, meals and documents with voice, images or file uploads.
A companion product post says Google Health Premium starts at $9.99 per month or $99 per year and is bundled with Google AI Pro and Ultra subscriptions. Google is also tying the service to its new Fitbit Air tracker, which includes a three-month Premium trial.
The main open question is how widely the experience will resonate beyond existing Fitbit and Pixel Watch users. But as a product move, the May rollout shows Google pushing Gemini deeper into subscription software where continuous personal data can shape the model's outputs over time.
