GenLayer Foundation has launched Internet Court, a dispute-resolution protocol aimed at transactions between AI agents, with support from a group of crypto and Web3 companies including OKX, MetaMask, Matter Labs and GenLayer.

The premise is narrow but important: if autonomous software can negotiate, pay, and execute agreements, it also needs a way to handle failed deliveries, conflicting claims, or ambiguous outcomes. Existing agent-infrastructure work has focused heavily on payments, identity, interoperability, and tool use. Internet Court is trying to add a settlement layer for what happens after agents transact.

CoinDesk reported that the group includes 27 companies and that the protocol is meant to help connect AI-based payments, escrow, and dispute resolution. Bloomingbit, citing the same launch, described the system as a shared venue for problems that arise in transactions between AI agents. Forbes separately framed the effort around autonomous commerce, where software agents act continuously and may need decisions faster than conventional legal processes can provide.

The announcement should still be read cautiously. The available reporting describes a launch and industry backing, not a fully proven legal or technical standard. It also does not establish how many real agent-to-agent disputes are happening today, how decisions will be enforced across different protocols, or how users will challenge bad outcomes.

Even with those caveats, the project is a useful signal. As agent payments and wallet integrations move from demos toward production, dispute resolution is becoming part of the stack rather than an afterthought.
