Hyundai Card has moved a stablecoin-based internal remittance pilot into production readiness on Avalanche, adding another large-enterprise test case for blockchain settlement rails.

The first phase reportedly moved $20,000 from Hyundai Motor America to Hyundai Motor Mexico. The process converted dollars into Tether's USDT stablecoin for transfer and then back into dollars at the receiving end. Hyundai Card, the automaker's credit card unit and project lead, said the transfer averaged about seven minutes, versus several hours for the traditional banking route it compared against.

The implementation matters because it is not framed as a consumer payment feature or a crypto trading product. It is a treasury workflow between subsidiaries, the kind of back-office payment use case stablecoin companies have argued can improve cross-border settlement speed and operating cost.

CoinDesk reported that Ava Labs described Hyundai as the first major enterprise to publicly announce this type of Avalanche implementation, while saying the project had moved live USD and USDT rather than remaining only a sandbox test.

The next step is expected to broaden the pilot beyond the U.S.-Mexico corridor. A second phase involving Hyundai's European subsidiaries is planned for later in July, with local currency transfers and foreign-exchange costs set to be evaluated in partnership with Circle and Visa.
