T. Rowe Price Debuts Active Multi-Token Crypto ETP
T. Rowe Price has launched the T. Rowe Price Active Crypto ETF, ticker TKNZ, an actively managed spot crypto exchange-traded product that began trading on NYSE Arca on Thursday.
The product is notable because it is not another single-asset bitcoin or ether vehicle. T. Rowe Price says TKNZ is designed to give investors exposure to a diversified universe of crypto assets, including bitcoin, ether, BNB, XRP, solana, Hyperliquid and others. Portfolio managers can adjust the mix based on research, risk controls and market conditions instead of tracking a fixed index.
The launch brings a large traditional asset manager further into digital assets. T. Rowe Price said it managed $1.89 trillion in client assets as of June 30 and has spent several years building digital-asset research and trading infrastructure.
There is an important regulatory distinction behind the headline. The company's release describes TKNZ as an ETF, but also says exchange-traded products are a broader category and that TKNZ is not registered as an investment company under the Investment Company Act of 1940. That makes the structure closer to other commodity-style spot crypto products than a conventional registered ETF.
The fund's net management fee is 0.75% under a waiver through May 31, 2027, according to the announcement. After that, CoinDesk reported the fee is scheduled to rise to 0.90%. The useful signal is institutional product design: crypto exposure is moving from single-token wrappers toward actively managed baskets.
