Google is adding two AI features to Google Vids, its Workspace video creation app: Gemini Omni for prompt-based video generation and editing, and personal avatars that can present a user's script.

The update is aimed at making short workplace videos easier to produce without a full recording setup. Google says Gemini Omni can generate clips from natural-language prompts, with optional image references such as photos or sketches to guide the result. After a first draft, users can keep refining the clip through chat-style edits instead of rebuilding the video from scratch.

The second feature, personal avatars, lets a user create a custom digital presenter for Vids projects. That could be useful for internal training, sales explainers, onboarding material or updates where the speaker wants a consistent on-camera presence without recording every take.

The product page for Google Vids already positions the app as an AI-assisted video editor inside Workspace, with script help, screen recording and Veo-powered generation. The new announcement pushes that further into agent-like editing, where users describe the desired change and the system updates the media.

The practical question is less whether Vids can make polished demos, and more whether companies will trust avatar-based communication for routine work. Google is clearly betting that business video creation will become a prompt-and-review workflow, not a separate production task.
