Monday.com is cutting roughly 20% of its workforce as the SaaS company reshapes its operating model around AI.

The company described the move as a shift toward a leaner structure focused on its AI Work Platform. TechCrunch reported the reduction at about 630 staff, citing the company's statement, while CTech reported about 620 roles. The conservative read is that Monday.com is eliminating about one-fifth of its employees rather than adding a more precise headcount than the sources consistently support.

The cuts stand out because Monday.com is not a distressed software company retreating from AI spending. Its stated direction is the opposite: redesigning work-management software around AI agents, app-building tools and human collaboration inside enterprise workflows.

That makes the announcement part of a broader 2026 pattern in software. Companies are increasingly presenting AI as both a product strategy and an internal efficiency lever, even when the exact degree of job replacement is difficult to prove from public filings. In Monday.com's case, the verifiable claim is narrower: management is reducing headcount while reallocating attention toward its AI platform strategy.

For customers, the immediate product impact is less clear than the staffing impact. Monday.com will still need to show that its AI Work Platform can turn a restructuring narrative into durable workflow improvements, not just a smaller cost base.
