POSCO International is testing tokenized trade receivables with LG CNS, moving a corporate finance workflow onto blockchain rails rather than limiting the trial to simulated records.

What changed

According to reports from CoinDesk and Crypto Briefing, the pilot uses live commercial invoice data from POSCO International's global subsidiaries and runs on the Injective network. The goal is to create a shared onchain record for receivables that can be tracked and transferred more efficiently across the company's trade-finance process.

CoinDesk reported that POSCO International is South Korea's largest trading company and that LG CNS is the technology partner for the proof of concept. The report also quoted a POSCO International spokesperson saying the project validated the use of AI and blockchain technology against real trade data and processes. The company is aiming to move toward production after the pilot, though the public reports do not yet specify transaction volumes, participating subsidiaries, or a full rollout timetable.

Why it matters

The narrow version of the story is a receivables workflow test. The broader signal is that tokenization is moving beyond treasury funds and securities wrappers into operational corporate finance.

Trade receivables are practical but messy assets: they depend on invoices, counterparties, payment timing, and internal reconciliation. If tokenized records can reduce duplication or settlement friction inside a multinational trading business, the model could become more relevant to enterprise finance teams than speculative real-world-asset launches. For now, it remains a pilot, so the useful test is whether POSCO and LG CNS can turn verified records into production infrastructure rather than a one-off proof of concept.
