Bank Leumi Picks Galaxy for Crypto Trading Rollout
Bank Leumi, Israel's largest bank, plans to offer cryptocurrency trading to customers through a partnership with Galaxy Digital.
The companies said the service is expected to open in early 2027, making Leumi the first Israeli bank to announce a customer-facing digital asset trading product. Galaxy will provide the trading infrastructure, while Leumi will bring the service to its banking clients through its local platform.
The announcement is notable because it moves crypto trading closer to a mainstream banking channel in Israel rather than leaving it only to exchanges or specialized brokers. It also gives Galaxy another institutional distribution partner at a time when traditional financial firms are testing which crypto services can fit inside regulated customer relationships.
The practical details still matter. The companies have not yet described the full asset list, fee model, custody structure, or eligibility rules for customers. Regulatory approval and operational controls will determine how broadly the product is available when it launches.
For banks, the rollout is a measured way to respond to customer demand without building every part of the crypto stack in house. For Galaxy, it extends the firm's role as a service provider to institutions that want digital asset exposure but need trading, compliance, and market access handled through an established infrastructure partner.
