BitMart Floats Partial Restart After Shutdown Notice
BitMart is no longer describing its July shutdown notice as the only path forward. The crypto exchange said it is developing a potential restructuring plan as an alternative to a full wind-down, after discussions with community members, stakeholders, and advisers.
The company said the plan may include a phased resumption of certain operations alongside distributions to creditors. It also said any restart remains subject to legal, financial, operational, and regulatory assessment, and that the community would be consulted once a business resumption plan is launched.
BitMart has appointed White & Case as restructuring counsel for the process. The law firm’s role is notable because the exchange’s earlier message framed the shutdown as an orderly cessation of trading platform operations, not as a creditor-led restructuring or restart process.
The update lands just weeks after BitMart said it would wind down its trading platform following a review of operating conditions, market environment, and strategy. That earlier announcement triggered a sharp selloff in BMX, the exchange’s token, and left users waiting for concrete withdrawal and service-continuity details.
The conservative read is that BitMart has opened a restructuring option, not reversed the shutdown outright. The company has not committed to a launch date, named which operations might resume, or published creditor distribution terms. Until those details arrive, users still face uncertainty over which services will remain available after the original trading halt timeline.
