Nscale Secures $790M for Norway AI Infrastructure
Nscale has announced $790 million in financing to support AI infrastructure in Norway, adding another large project to the private market for compute capacity. The company disclosed the financing on its newsroom the same day TechCrunch reported that Nscale is in talks to raise additional capital ahead of a possible IPO.
What changed
The official announcement is narrower than the reported pre-IPO raise: it covers financing tied to the Norway buildout, not a completed multibillion-dollar equity round. TechCrunch reported that Nscale is seeking $3.5 billion in pre-IPO financing and framed the talks against growing demand for AI infrastructure.
Nscale has also been announcing large customer and capacity commitments. In a separate release, the company said it plans to deliver more than 66,000 NVIDIA Rubin GPUs to Microsoft at Start Campus' site in Portugal. Together, the financing and delivery announcements show Nscale trying to expand both the physical data center footprint and the accelerator capacity behind its AI cloud business.
Why it matters
AI infrastructure funding is increasingly about power, data center sites, chip supply, and long customer contracts. Nscale's Norway financing is significant because it points to another European buildout at a time when model labs and cloud customers are competing for scarce compute.
The conservative read is that Nscale has confirmed a large infrastructure financing package, while the larger pre-IPO fundraise remains reported talks. If those talks close, the company would become another heavily capitalized AI infrastructure provider trying to challenge hyperscale clouds for enterprise AI workloads.
