DeepSeek V4.1 Flash scored 81.2 out of 100 in OpenDesign Arena's comparison of 13 AI models, behind GPT-6 Astra's 82.7. The results, reported by Decrypt on September 10 and listed on OpenDesign's benchmark page, highlight a substantial cost gap within a narrowly defined design workflow.

OpenDesign estimates average token cost per artifact at $0.023 for DeepSeek, compared with $1.61 for Astra. Mean completion times were 5.3 and 11.1 minutes, respectively. Those are measured workflow results and estimated resource costs, not API price quotes or guarantees for other applications.

What the evaluation measures

The benchmark uses shared prototype-generation tasks covering web apps, mobile apps, desktop clients, dashboards and admin panels, and websites and landing pages. Requirement fulfillment contributes 30 points; design quality contributes 70, covering layout, hierarchy, style fit, color and contrast, and image relevance.

Artifacts that cannot render as webpages receive zero and are not replaced through retesting. Successful rendering alone does not establish that an output meets the brief.

OpenDesign reports a 57.7% delivery rate for DeepSeek and 60% for Astra. Here, "deliverable" means scoring at least 80 under the benchmark's prototype-quality standard, not readiness for production use.
