Robinhood Announces In-App Trading Agents With Dedicated Accounts
Robinhood announced an in-app AI trading-agent experience at its September 29 HOOD Summit, extending tools previously aimed at customers connecting their own external agents. Robinhood Agents and the accompanying Agent Apps are coming soon to eligible U.S. customers, according to the company; the announcement does not establish general availability.
Customers will name an agent, choose an AI model and open a dedicated agentic trading account. The agent can research markets, analyze holdings and place trades under user-provided instructions. Robinhood says the existing Trading MCP connection will remain available for customers who prefer third-party agents.
Approval controls and recurring instructions
Agents can access only funds in their dedicated account. Manual approval of each proposed trade is enabled by default and can generally be changed during setup or later. Robinhood says crypto trade approvals must remain enabled in Connecticut, New York and California. CoinDesk reports that agents cannot borrow on margin at launch.
A separate feature called Loops, also described as coming soon, will turn a strategy into recurring instructions, such as checking markets each morning and acting when specified conditions occur. Users will be able to stop a Loop.
Agent Apps will add paid data and tools from providers including Nasdaq, Unusual Whales, Quiver Quantitative and Token Terminal. Robinhood says providers will arrive at launch or shortly afterward, rather than promising the entire catalog immediately.
The concrete change is distribution: customers will be able to configure agents inside a brokerage app instead of connecting external software. That lowers setup requirements, but does not establish trading performance or remove the need to supervise model-driven orders.
