Nous Research has confirmed a $90 million funding round to support its open-source AI work and develop Hermes for Businesses, a company-focused extension of its Hermes Agent platform. TechCrunch reported on October 7 that the Series B valued the startup at $1.5 billion and was led by Robot Ventures.

Nous's own announcement names investors including Nvidia, Microsoft's M12, Samsung, Robot Ventures, Union Square Ventures, Y Combinator and Menlo Ventures. The company frames the business offering around letting organizations control their intelligence stacks, choose models and retain institutional knowledge.

From personal agents to company workflows

Hermes Agent lets users choose where the software runs and which models it uses. According to Nous, it remembers projects, writes reusable skills while working and carries that knowledge across sessions. The company says it released the agent under the MIT license in February.

The proposed business offering extends that approach to organizations. Nous says it intends to help companies select models based on their goals and costs, scale usage privately, and build reusable knowledge from employees' work. These are stated product ambitions, not independently verified performance or security guarantees.

Funding confirmed, availability less clear

Although TechCrunch describes a business-agent launch, Nous's announcement says it “will build and deliver” Hermes for Businesses. The fundraising note does not specify general-availability timing or pricing, so it should not be read as confirmation of a broadly available enterprise service.

The concrete development is new financing behind an open-source agent company's enterprise expansion, with model choice and organizational control central to its pitch.
