Sui Plans October Hashi Rollout With Over $500 Million Committed
Sui plans to begin a phased mainnet rollout of Hashi later in October, introducing infrastructure that lets deposited bitcoin support financial applications on Sui while the underlying BTC remains on the Bitcoin network.
The Sui Foundation announced the schedule on October 8, saying more than $500 million in capital had been committed across a coalition of over 20 partners. Those figures describe pledges, not verified live deposits or lending volume. Access will expand as partners finish integrations.
Bitcoin collateral, Sui-side applications
Hashi mints hBTC on Sui against deposited bitcoin. Applications can use that asset for borrowing, lending and other collateral-based products. On withdrawal, the corresponding hBTC is burned and native BTC is released. Mysten Labs developed the underlying framework; third parties independently provide financial products.
Anchorage Digital is joining with two planned access routes: qualified-custody arrangements through its Atlas settlement and tri-party collateral infrastructure, and self-service through its institutional self-custody wallet, Porto. It also plans to supply stablecoin liquidity.
Security and rollout remain key tests
Sui says Bitcoin collateral uses a 2-of-2 multisignature structure requiring authorization from Hashi validators and a guardian. Its Guardian Layer can slow or stop suspicious collateral movements. The foundation also reports formal verification of smart contracts by Certora and a cryptographic review of the MPC protocol by CommonPrefix.
The announcement establishes a deployment schedule and funding commitments, not demonstrated operating scale. The next concrete milestones are partner access becoming available, actual collateral deposits and functioning Bitcoin-backed markets as the rollout progresses.
